Dear Parents

This is the final weekend to buy your Wizard of Oz tickets. Don't miss out on this wonderful event. I had the opportunity to watch the Opening show and was blown away by the amazing skills of our learners. From the main characters to the puppets, the attention to detail and the passion in which our learners embodied the characters was a pleasure to see.

This week in assembly we discussed our School Song and spoke about the meaning of the words we sing. Part of the conversation was looking at our future selves and envisaging the type of adult we would like to be and the type of adult we would not want to associate with. Over the next few weeks our assemblies will focus on our Growing Minds and Code of Conduct.

Please note, our North vs South Festival has been postponed due to the weather predictions for tomorrow. We are hoping to reschedule this event for September. Stay safe, warm and dry tomorrow!

The SP Design Society learners designed covers for their very own visual journal. Their cover paintings were inspired by the flora and fauna of the Cape Floristic Region. They excitedly received the finished product this week and are eager to draw and write inside their personalised journals.

Grade 5 reading in the winter sun!

Congratulations

Congratulations to Anna, Hope, Roch and Lucas who have been elected as Library Monitors for the rest of this year. These learners lead by example with such contagious enthusiasm for books. This week they explored some new sport books for the senior preparatory and were excited to count down to the start of the Summer Olympics in Paris.

Birthday Books

Birthdays are the best and we love celebrating with you!  Happy birthday and thank you to Luhle, Cian and Amarachi for sharing wonderful books with us all. You can never go wrong with Julia Donaldson and The Gruffalo’s Child is a firm favourite. The Investigators is a new graphic novel series and this one is titled Heist and Seek, an irresistible adventure. With Roald Dahl Day happening this quarter, James and the Giant Peach is also a great choice. We will treasure these gifts!
