Drop off and collection
Drop off & collection
Please ensure that learners arrive on time for the start of the academic day. Parents are welcome to drop their children off between 07:30 and 07:45 and are requested to use the Drop and Go Zone on the SP Campus in Wood Drive.
Parents may pull into the yellow zone for learners to get out and walk into school on their own. Please do not park or leave your car in the Drop and Go Zone.
All learners must be clocked in and ready for the day before this 07:45. Learners who attend early morning activities must clock-in before attending their session in order to avoid being recorded as 'Late Arrival' on the biometric system.
Aftercare
Aftercare is a combined group of Grade 4-6 learners. Parents, please inform the College via email should you wish to make use of our aftercare facility. Learners may wear their Parklands College sports uniform. Learners attending Aftercare will be escorted to the venue. Parents who wish to make use of our aftercare facilities, must please inform us via e-mail. Learners must be collected before 16h45, as the College is locked at this time.
A late collection fee of R250 per half hour is charged should your child not be collected by 16h45
Security & Car Stickers
For safety reasons no learners are permitted to wait outside the College gates at any time.
Parents entering our campus are required to have a car identification sticker which can be collected from reception. By displaying the sticker on your car you will gain easy access to the College premises. Vehicles who do not have a sticker will be scanned. ‘At the Gate’ Access Solution is used by the College and involves drivers' and car license discs being scanned. This information is stored on a secure database off-site for future reference should the need arise. Pedestrians are also required to produce identification.
We request, for the safety of our learners, that parents and visitors who are on our campus during academic time also sign in at reception and receive a visitors badge. The badge must be returned to reception before leaving campus.
Parent & Learner Directory

The use of UBER for learners in the Preparatory Faculty
Please be aware that learners under the age of 13 may NOT use UBER without an adult. We are aware that UBER has a teen service however this is for 13 - 17 year olds only and they may NOT use the service with any child under the age of 13 years. Any child under 13 years old may only use an UBER with an 18 year old and above.
Absenteeism during exams and formal assessments
We have unfortunately seen an increase of requests for learners to leave on early holidays or miss assessments for personal reasons. Kindly note that the only valid reasons endorsed by the Education Department are as follows:
Learners may only miss an assessment (examination) supported by documentary evidence, for the following reasons:
Illness (a valid medical doctor’s certificate required)
Family bereavement (letter required)
Representing the country or province in a sporting or cultural event (official letter required)
Late Collection Fee
We have had an increase of learners being collected late, please be aware that learners not collected on time will be billed R250 per half hour or part thereof. A reminder of our times as set out in the Parent and Learner Directory: The College doors open at 07:30 for the Preparatory Faculty. Admin opens at 07:30. Aftercare learners must be collected before 16h45 as the campus is locked promptly at this time.
Please check the times stated in the blog for collection after extra murals and sport.
Lockers and Locks
Each learner has been allocated a locker on campus. Please ensure that your child has put a lock on their locker. Combination locks are available from reception at R85 per lock, which will be billed to your account. Bags, with iPads should be kept safe and locked away.
For sport practice, bags are kept in the learner's locker and collected after the session.
For away games bags must remain on the bus which is locked, the team manager will let learners know if there is a different arrangement.
There are also lockers installed in the Senior Prep changing rooms. These lockers are not allocated to any learner and can be used by anyone. Learners must purchase a lock from reception to use in the changing room lockers. No bags may be stored on the changing room benches and no bags may be stored in the changing room lockers without locks. These lockers are to be used by learners in the afternoon for matches at school. The team manager will let learners know if there is a different arrangement, however this should still be in a safe place which is locked.
Sports bags are stored in Club 7 and 11. For security purposes learners may add a lock to their zips to secure the content particularly when using the bag outside for matches.
Any bags found in the passages or left unaccompanied will be taken to the office and learners will receive a demerit upon collection.

Deliveries
We kindly request that parents not send delivery drivers i.e. Uber eats to deliver food to their child/children. Unfortunately, some delivery services are not happy to bring items into the building, and our security guard is not able to walk up and down as a delivery service. Reception is also not able to walk around finding learners if they don't collect at break time.
Should a learner forget their lunch at home, they must come to reception, and we will give you a call. If you are unable to drop something off, we will make a plan.
