Winning Team
The last week of the term was packed with creativity, imagination, and leadership moments!
In Afrikaans, our learners teamed up to create their own unique stories, complete with hand-drawn illustrations! The creativity was off the charts, and Ms. Prinsloo & Mrs. Bailly were absolutely blown away by the effort put into each masterpiece. Well done, everyone!
House Captains & Monitors Elections! The excitement was real as we cast our votes for the leaders of our school houses! The results are in, and we can’t wait to announce them in assembly soon—stay tuned! 👀
Exploring the Cosmos: Our Grade 6 Planet Vacation Project
Our Grade 6 learners transformed into interstellar travel agents, designing unique vacation packages to space destinations! Using Canva and TinkerCAD, they created stunning posters, futuristic hotel designs, and engaging presentations that highlighted planetary facts, extreme weather conditions, and thrilling sightseeing opportunities like erupting volcano tours and ring-gazing expeditions.
The showcase was a huge success, with Grade 5 learners and teachers exploring these imaginative destinations. Learners confidently presented their space hotels and explained how they tackled the challenges of living beyond Earth. The creativity, research, and enthusiasm on display made for an unforgettable learning experience—well done to our young space pioneers!
Our Grade 5s are diving into CyberSafe AI: Dig Deeper, learning how to use AI responsibly while staying safe online! They’re exploring cool topics like how AI makes decisions, why personal info should stay private, and how to spot deepfakes.
Through fun activities, they’re also discovering how AI can be biased, why homework should be their own work (not AI’s!), and how to tell facts from fiction. These skills will help them become smart, safe, and responsible digital citizens in a world full of tech!

Our Grade Fours ended Quarter One with a host of exciting activities. In History we discovered how timelines can help us organise events that have happened in the past. The Afrikaans learners loved seeing their recipes come to life as they prepared their delicious sandwiches. The highlight of the experience was getting to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
On 26 March 26, Mathletics celebrated World Maths Day, and our Grade Fours eagerly joined in the excitement. They competed in their houses, tackling challenging world problems and equations before facing off in Live Mathletics. Parklands College proudly secured 5th place nationwide! We are incredibly proud of all our learners for embracing these challenges, and a huge congratulations to Cambridge for winning the Math Challenge!
We had another wonderful opportunity to extend our support to our beloved furry friends at Fallen Angels Pet Rescue Haven. Fallen Angels, a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), champions the profound bond between humans and animals, recognising every Forgotten, Abandoned, Lost, Lonely, Emaciated, and Neglected animal as a FALLEN ANGEL.
Our enthusiastic group of 12 learners, from Grades 1-6, eagerly delivered the generous donations of dog and cat food to the shelter, an experience that touched our hearts deeply. The team at Fallen Angels expressed overwhelming gratitude for these contributions, knowing firsthand the impact they will have on the animals under their care. With 120 kg of dog food needed daily to feed all shelter residents, every donation makes a significant difference. Thank you, Parklands Family, for your steadfast support once again.
During our visit, we had the privilege of exploring the sanctuary, meeting some of the adorable dogs and cats. Their irresistible charm left us enchanted, and witnessing the dedication of the Fallen Angels team in providing a safe haven for these animals was truly inspiring. It was an experience that will remain with us for days to come.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude for your support and contributions this quarter. We eagerly anticipate future collaborations, continuing our mission to stand by Fallen Angels and inviting others to join us in this meaningful cause. Thank you Parklands Family!

Our Culture department has been designing the costumes and set for our production of Madagascar Jr. Please help us by collecting and sending the following recyclable materials to school.
We would also appreciate help in finding old scout uniforms.
World Book Day 23 April
April heralds our favourite day of the year, World Book Day on the 23rd! We are starting our celebrations this Friday already with a show by the vibrant Hooked On Books theatre company. The actors will be performing extracts from several books, all guaranteed to get our learners excited about reading. What a treat!
Birthday Books
We love to celebrate birthdays, and do so in a memorable way, as learners present a book on their birthdays which is inscribed in their name. At the end of last quarter we celebrated with Lea, Logan, Sinesipo and Maxwell, when they presented their Birthday Books at assembly. Thank you so much for these additions to our library!
